Quick rules: keep titles under 580 px (~60 characters) and descriptions under 920 px (~158 characters) so Google doesn't truncate them. Put your main keyword near the start of the title. Write descriptions like ad copy — they don't affect ranking directly, but they decide whether people click.

Pixel widths are measured with Google's actual result fonts (Arial 20px title / 14px description). Limits are the widely used industry standards — Google can still rewrite titles and descriptions it doesn't like, so keep them relevant to the page.

Why preview your SERP snippet?

Your title tag and meta description are your ad in Google's search results. If they're too long, Google cuts them off mid-sentence with an ellipsis — and truncated snippets get fewer clicks. This tool measures the exact pixel width of your text using Google's own fonts, which is more accurate than counting characters, because a "W" takes four times the space of an "i".

How to use it

Type your title, description, and URL. The preview updates live, and the meters warn you when you're close to the cut-off. Aim for green on both meters, put your most important words first, and give people a clear reason to click.
